Internship (TPVES)

Students who have passed all core exams up to the 4th year of their curriculum can apply for the Practical-Evaluative Internship for the State Exam (TPVES).

Application procedure:

• Applications and attachments must be sent as a single PDF file by email to llsaba@uniss.i from the 1st to the 10th of the month prior to the start of the internship.
• The application must include the student’s university email address (@studenti.uniss.it).
• Internships carried out before submitting the application and before tutor assignment are not allowed.
• Tutor assignments are made at the end of the month prior to the start of the internship.

Attachments required with the application:

• Proof of payment of the government fee: €49.58, paid to postal account No. 1016, Agenzia delle Entrate, Reason: “Tasse scolastiche”.
• Tutor preference form, allowing students to indicate two preferred tutors for the three-month TPVES internship. Tutors must be General Practitioners with at least 10 years of service in the national health system.

For students who have already submitted their application, it is sufficient to send only the tutor preference form one month before the internship begins.

New provision (since March 1, 2023):

• Any full-time hospital medical manager in our Complex Structures can act as a tutor, being an employee of a University Hospital.

Locations:

• TPVES internships in Medical and Surgical areas must be carried out exclusively at AOU and ASL Sassari, as regulated by specific agreements.

Area Coordinators:

• Surgical Area: Prof. Antonio Mario Scanu
• General Practitioners (MMG) Area: Prof. Pierpaolo Terragni

At the end of the internship, the internship notebooks will be evaluated by the area coordinator, and the Student Office will enter the grades in the official record.

• Tutoring during pre-graduation qualifying internships is valid for individual ECM credits.
• Tutors must request certification via email to llsaba@uniss.it , indicating the period and the names of the students tutored.

• Internships at affiliated institutions require authorization from the course instructor responsible for the subject (e.g., for a Cardiology internship, the approval of Prof. Casu is needed).
• After receiving the approval, students must send the completed internship form to llsaba@uniss.it for authorization by the President of the Degree Program.
• The internship can only begin after the President’s approval.
• Internships completed up to June 2025 can be recognized as ADE. Internships from July 2025 onward can only be recognized as ADA.

Other Educational Activities – Communications for M&S Students

• Students enrolled until academic year 2022-23 can earn 2 ECTS credits for “Other Educational Activities” (point A of the study plan) through:
  1. Seminars or stages organized at the university by university professors or GPs indicated by professional orders (according to agreements)
  2. Internship at the Emergency Room
• Since GP seminars are no longer offered (as they are now included in TPVES internships), students can complete a voluntary internship at affiliated AOU and SSN facilities. For locations outside Sassari, authorization from the course instructor is required.
• After approval, students must submit the completed form to llsaba@uniss.it for authorization by the President of the Degree Program.
• At the end of the internship, the form must be recorded in the student notebook under ADA.
