Internazionalizzazione

Internationalization in the Faculty of Medicine

Internationalization is one of the strategic goals of the Faculty of Medicine, seen as a key lever to offer students an educational path aligned with the highest international academic and professional standards.

Since its foundation, the Faculty has promoted openness to the international context, fostering a network of collaborations with foreign universities, research institutes, and healthcare institutions. This has helped create a dynamic and multicultural academic environment, enriched by the participation of Italian and international professors, researchers, and professionals, involved in lectures, labs, seminars, and joint research activities.

Mobility Programmes: Erasmus+ and International Opportunities

The Faculty of Medicine’s Coordination Structure actively participates in the Erasmus+ programme, both for study mobility (Erasmus+ for Study) and for traineeships (Erasmus+ for Traineeship). These agreements allow students, residents, PhD candidates, and interns to carry out training periods abroad, supported by dedicated scholarships.

The Erasmus+ programme also offers mobility opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and administrative staff, for both teaching and training activities, promoting reciprocal cultural and scientific exchange.

In addition, students can benefit from the Ulisse Programme, promoted by the University to support study, internship, and research activities in countries outside the Erasmus+ partnership.

International Agreements and Academic Collaborations

In addition to Erasmus+ programmes, the Faculty is involved in international framework agreements that enable participation in summer schools, seminars, research projects, teaching, and professional internships across a wide range of academic and clinical institutions worldwide.

These collaborations enhance the international dimension of the educational offering, enabling the academic community to engage with global practices, approaches, and methodologies.

Degree Programmes with an International Outlook

The Faculty’s internationalization strategy is also reflected in the development of international pathways within degree programmes, such as double degrees, PhD co-supervision, and a growing number of courses taught in English.

International Coordination

To manage, promote, and develop international activities, the Faculty relies on two key figures:

  • Prof. Gaia Rocchitta, Coordinator for the Department of Medicine
  • Prof. Daria Sanna, Coordinator for the Department of Biomedical Sciences

Both are responsible for coordinating Erasmus+ mobility and international initiatives, with the aim of providing students and staff with increasing opportunities for international engagement and growth.
